Khai Willis is a student who has studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, FL, and now studies Graphic Design at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. Willis enjoys making all forms of art, but has focused her creative studies mainly in sculpture and graphic design. Her goal in creating is to convey emotion and emulate feelings. Her most recent designs have taken inspiration from Swiss design of the International Style Movement. Willis admires how Swiss design feels “free,” while still abiding by rules, such as a grid. She complements her designs with a simple, yet visually interesting color scheme, often using oranges and beige. Willis believes that type can do everything that images can do, but better. She uses type in creative ways, in conjunction with color, to create a design in of itself.
